Journey of a thousand miles......

Me blogging? Brings me back to the old diary days when the only thing that prevented my brother from reading my entries was that incredibly secure lock on my little pink plastic repository of my most private reflections. But here goes.....

I had to laugh out loud, Susan. I had one of those totally secure diaries too, complete with key that you could bend with your teeth! But many blogs aren't journal-like at all. Many are kind of editorial, or ongoing commentary on a particular subject, maybe links to news stories or other blogs. It can be whatever you want.

I agree that it feels awfully personal, though. Even as someone who freelanced for magazines and newspapers, I still feel vulnerable to have my writing OUT THERE. My diary felt much more comfortable (even though the key was so universal that you could pick it with any luggage or jewelry box key!)

I can't count how many times I had to replace the lock on my Hello Kitty diary because of my nosy little sister. At least now she's all grown up and probably too cool to care about anything I write in my blog!
